Flora Karetka, flutist

Born in the city of Geneva in 1998, the Hungarian-Swiss Flutist, Flora Karetka began her musical education at the Studio Kodály in Geneva with Nataliya Vincent. An accomplished artist from a young age, she was laureate of several youth competitions (such as the Swiss music competition for youth, and the concours „souffle d'ici et d'ailleurs”) in solo as well as in chamber music and contemporary music. After graduating from high school, she started her professional studies at the Hochschule für Musik — Luzern with renowned flutist Prof. Pirmin Grehl. She completed her bachelor’s degree in 2020 with the “Strebi- Gedenkpreis” for especially outstanding students and continued her subsequent studies in Lucerne for a master’s degree in flute pedagogy.
During her studies, Flora has since had the opportunity to take masterclasses from Sarah Rumer, Peter Lukas Graf, Sebastian Jacot, Lidia Oshavkova, among others.
As an active member of the new music community, Flora has appeared on SRF 2, at the Lucerne Festival Forward in KKL, in addition to the numerous contemporary Festivals at the
HSLU. She has also been a strong proponent of new music within the Swiss education system and introduced over 120 primary school students to the idea of contemporary music in a series of workshops, and a self-produced children's concert, as well as outreach projects in collaboration with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra's department of music promotion.
Not only passionate about teaching, Flora also plays in different chamber music groups and she has played as a soloist with the Campus Orchestra Lucerne and the Orchestra of the
Studio Kodály.
